Rain cancelled opening day of Apponaug Girls Softball Saturday at Winslow Park. The occasion including Mayor Frank Picozzi throwing out the first pitch for the league he once headed was rescheduled for Sunday. But early Sunday morning it was determined the field was too wet for play. By the time the May family learned of the change they were already at the field and Cadie, age 9 and a first time player, was dressed and ready. Her father and grandfather didn’t let the opportunity for some practice hitting near the parking lot slip by. Cadie was delighted. She is a member of the AG Dwyer team coached by Jane Dwyer. Cadie’s father pitched and her grandfather, Vincent Sciolto, see here giving her some pointers, was catcher. (Warwick Beacon photos)
