Middletown 45, Pilgrim 37

The underdog Pilgrim girls basketball team traveled to Middletown and fell in close battle in the preliminary round of the playoffs last week.

BOYS HOCKEY

La Salle 3, Hendricken 0

The first-place La Salle Rams took on rival Bishop Hendricken last week and would earn the shutout win and the top seed in the upcoming Division I Playoffs.

In the previous game, the Hawks would roll to a 10-3 win over No. 2 East Greenwich in a statement win prior to the postseason.

The Hawks jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first period thanks to two goals from Nick Defelice. Will Cavanagh, Matthew Moretti and Dylan Capelli scored one a piece in the first frame.

Michael Soscia, Colton Whitfield, and Drew Gayman scored in the second to make it 8-2 heading to the final period. Cavanagh and Gayman would score again in the third to round out the win. Warwick 4, Prout 1

The Warwick co-op earned its first win of the season when it cruised past Prout last week.

Ryan Barlow, Charlie Clements and Richie Cavanaugh all scored in the first period to give Warwick the early 3-1 lead. Lucas Hemond would score in the third period to give the team some insurance and hold on to the win.
