Joseph N. “Joe” Rodgers, 59, of Warwick, RI died on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital after a period of declining health. He was born in Brooklyn New York on May 29, 1967, to Angela (DeMarco) Rodgers of Freehold, New Jersey, and the late Joseph M. Rodgers. He was a longtime resident of New York, most recently living on Long Island. He relocated to Rhode Island in 1998 and was employed as a customer service specialist for AAA of Southeastern New England. It was there that he met his wife, Doreen (DelSanto) Rodgers, and together they enjoyed several years of work and family life together.
Joe was a quiet and gentle man and the sole survivor of a tragic and debilitating automobile accident at age 19. Despite some residual difficulties and disabilities, he lived a full and enjoyable life and a productive and satisfying career. He was an avid sports fan, especially of football, and enjoyed listening to a variety of music. He thoroughly embraced the Italian culture and cuisine, being particularly partial to pasta - which he insisted be referred to as ‘macaroni’ - served with homemade ‘gravy’!
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a brother, Daniel (Nicole) Rodgers, in New Jersey; his beloved stepchildren: Gina (Russell) Brown, David (Jodi) Cuomo, and Courtney (Manny) Dahlin; his cherished step-grandchildren: Russell, Ryan (Casey), Isabella, Kaylyn, Emanuel “EJ”, David, and Anna; his loving nieces, Cara and Erin; and his dear in-laws, David and Elaine Del Santo, with whom he had a special bond. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Nicholas Rodgers, and his stepson, Jeffrey Cuomo.
Joe’s Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 10:30a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Atwells Avenue at Knight Street, Providence. The family will receive visitors at the Church and at a reception following the Mass. Inurement will be private at a later date.
