RISPCA to host Paws in the Park

Posted

The Rhode Island SPCA announces that its 19th annual Paws in the Park dog walk will be held in-person on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rose Larisa Park in East Providence.

ABC6 Morning News anchor KC Kantz, and his dog Kaya will kick off the event at 10 a.m. Activities include a superhero themed Canine Costume Contest, “Shop Local” Marketplace, Chow (Chow) Town, prizes, raffles, and games for the dogs and kids.

“We appreciate the challenges facing the animal rescue community during these difficult times,” said Alex Wolf, ABC6, VP/general manager. “This new partnership expands upon a longstanding relationship between ABC6 News and the RISPCA producing ‘Pick of the Litter,’ a weekly segment on ABC6 News at Noon showcasing area rescue animals in need of new homes. Paws in the Park is a unique event and a great opportunity for WLNE to continue to serve the people of Southern New England.”

Join hundreds of pet lovers as they fundraise for the animals. Participants can register at rispca.com and create their own free webpage to begin fundraising today. Register as an individual or as a team. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers.

Proceeds will help support the Rhode Island SPCA’s critical programs and services for the people and animals in our community including adoption, humane education, humane law enforcement, and affordable veterinary care.

“We hope that everyone chooses to help support our fundraising efforts by either attending the event in-person or virtually fundraising, said Stephanie Van Patten, director of development. “Community and generosity are two important things that always bring people together.”
