Posted

The Rhode Island Marine Archaeology Project (RIMAP) will hold "Introduction to Marine Archaeology" 9a.m. to 4p.m. on Saturday January 22, at its artifact management facility on the campus of the Herreshoff Marine Museum, Burnside St., Bristol, RI. The fee is $100 and pre-registration is required. RIMAP's membership ($40) is open to the general public, but this class is required for all RIMAP volunteers. Topics include remote sensing, field methods, legal and ethical issues, field documentation, historical contexts, and RIMAP research protocols. "Introduction to Marine Archaeology" will be repeated on Feb. 26.

Despite the pandemic RIMAP's fieldwork, lab studies, and classes have carefully continued, attendees are asked to be vaccinated and boosted, and if not to stay masked. The application with further course details may be found at the www.rimap.org website, or contact RIMAP directly at (401) 253-2094 or by email at rhodeislandmap@yahoo.com.
