Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) is seeking art submissions for his annual high school art competition. High school students from Rhode Island’s Second District can submit their artwork and compete for the chance to have their work displayed in the United States Capitol.

“Every year, I am consistently amazed by how talented these young people are,” said  Langevin. “This competition is not just a chance to encourage artistic expression among our students, but truly an opportunity to showcase some of our most promising local artists. There is so much potential in our district, and I can’t wait to see what this year’s participants create.”

Interested high school students may submit one piece of art in the form of a painting, drawing, collage, print, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photography. The maximum submission size is 26” x 26” x 4”, including any framing. The submission must be an original concept, design, and execution.

The winner and runners-up will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held on Monday, April 25 at 6 p.m. at the Warwick Mall. Participating students, their families, teachers, and school officials are invited to attend. The winner will have their work displayed both in the U.S. Capitol and on Congressman Langevin’s official website. Runners-up will have their work displayed at the Congressman’s district office, where it will remain until the end of his time in office.

All entries must be submitted by Friday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m. Entries can be delivered to the Congressman’s district office during the week at 300 Centerville Road, Suite 200 South in Warwick between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For any questions, please contact the district office at 401-732-9400 or email Katie.Albert@mail.house.gov.
