Rhode Island could pay less, too

Posted

To the Editor,

When I read in the Providence Journal that electricity rates are going to double in October, I thought two things—that’s going to hurt our economy, and can businesses afford that?

Energy costs are out of control, and the consequences this winter are going to be bad.

Other places have it better. Energy costs less in Nebraska because Nebraska distributes it, and in Arkansas, they’re saving money by producing energy.

Rhode Island can pay less, too, if we do what Arkansas and Nebraska are doing.

House Resolution 7662 will hire experts to help Rhode Island make a plan to produce and distribute energy.

Our legislators are looking for ways to help us, and right now, they can help us by passing H7662.

We’re paying too much. We need relief.
