Like so many organizations, Covid threw a cold towel on the Warwick Historical Society. Meetings were held remotely if at all. The house on Roger Williams Circle adjacent to the Pawtuxet Memorial Cemetery on Harrison Avenue was closed for public visitations. But the society had a collection that society president Felicia Gardella was confident would rally members and newcomers. For lack of another title it was, “all things Rocky Point.” Gardella was right. The collection of books, photographs, newspapers articles, drawings, dinnerware, clothing and sundry park items filled three rooms. Outside was a refurbished seat from the Sky Liner, loaned for the occasion by Jason Matoh who has his own Rocky Point collection and published a graphic novel about the park. The society had a full house Saturday. Best of all visitors brought along their own Rocky Point collections – memories and stories from summer, pandemic free, days at the park. (Warwick Beacon photos)
