Rachel Elizabeth Carson

Rachel Elizabeth Carson, 18, of Johnston passed unexpectedly on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

She was a senior at Johnston Senior High School where she was a proud member of the band, the “A Capella” choral group, the Chemistry Club, and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She loved the arts and sciences and was looking forward to performing with the Rhode Island All-State Band again for the sixth year. In the fall, she was to attend the University of Maine where she planned to study Wildlife Ecology.

She is survived by her loving parents Kevin and Mardee Carson, her grandmother Melinda Carson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and many extended family and friends who loved her. In her young life she touched so many lives, and she will be greatly missed.

After a private family service on Saturday, January 20, a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Unitarian Church of Providence, located at 1 Benevolent Street, Providence, RI 02906.

In honor of Rachel’s love of nature, donations can be made in her memory to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, 12 Sanderson Road, Smithfield, RI 02917 or on the web at www.asri.org. Online condolences can be left at legacy.com
