DUI
On Nov. 30 at 1:55 a.m., police conducted a motor vehicle stop after observing a white GMC Sierra turning without use of a turn signal and having no illumination of the rear registration plate. The driver was identified as Christopher Lewis, 36, of 208 Simmonsville Ave., Johnston.
Lewis had “drooped eye lids, bloodshot eyes, and moderately mumbled speech,” according to police. He consented to a series of standardized field sobriety tests.
He was transported to Johnston Police Headquarters and later presented with a 3rd District Court Summons for DUI/Drugs/Alcohol – 1st offense – BAC unknown. He was also provided a Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal Summons for Speeding 11+ MPH in Excess of Posted Speed Limit – 1st offense, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, Turn Signal Required, Laned Roadway Violation, and Illumination of Rear Registration Plate.
BENCH WARRANT
On Dec. 6 at 1 a.m., police conducted a motor vehicle stop after observing a vehicle traveling 56 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. The driver was identified as Manuel Cardoso, 46, of 45 North Main Street, Randolph, Massachusetts.
NCIC checks revealed that Cardoso had an active bench warrant from Providence Superior Court.
Cardoso was placed under arrest for failure to appear in Providence Superior Court. He was transported to Johnston Police Headquarters where he was processed and held for pending.
He was issued E-Summons for Speeding 1 to 10 in Excess of Posted Speech Limit – 1st offense.
DRUG POSSESSION
On Dec. 5 at 9:45 p.m., police conducted a motor vehicle stop after observing a black sedan turn South onto Killingly Street from Hartford Avenue with no turn signal. The driver was identified as James Anderson, 15 Tall Oaks Court, Johnston.
While speaking with Anderson, the officer observed an orange pill bottle behind the passenger seat.
“The bottle contained 14 blueish/green pills with K8 engraved into them,” according to police, who discovered the pills were 15 milligram Oxycodone Hydrochloride.
Anderson was transported to Johnston Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with Possession of Schedule I-V Under 10 Grams. He was issued a Summons for Motor Vehicle Radios, Stereos, and Audio Systems.
