FELONY SHOPLIFTING
On Oct. 29, at 10:37 a.m., Johnston Police responded to a report of a shoplifting of sunglasses from Optx Rhode Island on Hartford Avenue. The suspect, later identified as Donald Forrest, 41, of 460 Pine St., Providence, was located with a pair of Gucci sunglasses with an anti-theft device in the pocket of his jeans. Forrest was arrested and processed at Johnston Police headquarters.
WARRANT ARREST & DRIVING WITH EXPIRED LICENSE
On Nov. 5 at 1:30 p.m., Johnston Police initiated a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Hartford Avenue and Reservoir Avenue. DMV checks revealed that the driver, identified as James Lang, 62, of 83 Sterling St., Providence, had an inactive driver’s license and an active warrant for felony shoplifting.
Lang was arrested on the warrant and charged with driving without a license.
WARRANT ARREST & POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSSTANCE
On Nov. 6 at 1:30 p.m., Johnston Police officer Cesar J. Irizarry observed a light gray Honda with no front plate and tinted windows pull into the Market Basket parking lot. Officer Irizarry initiated a motor vehicle stop. NCIC checks revealed that the driver, identified as Elvin Torres, 31, of 327 Point St., Providence had an active warrant issued by the Rhode Island State Police.
Torres was processed at Johnston Police headquarters. During a secondary search, “a clear plastic baggie was found in his socks which contained a white powdery substance,” according to police. Torres stated it was Fentanyl. The baggie was secured and sent for lab testing.
He was issued a summons violation for display of plates and charged with possession of controlled substance.
