By BRENDEN SOARES Hendricken product Bobby Fiorito is suiting up for the Johnson & Wales men's basketball team this winter, and while the former Hawk has mainly come off the bench, he has been chipping in when his number has been called.

The junior guard has played in all six contests to date for the Wildcats, averaging 16 minutes per game while also starting the team's 93-78 setback to Anna Maria on December 4.

It was in that contest versus the Amcats in which Fiorito strung together his best performance thus far for JWU, picking up six rebounds and scoring 14 points, one of a pair of occasions that he has reached double figures.

The other was in the Wildcats' most recent tilt, as he poured in 11 points in a 75-60 triumph over Norwich this past Sunday as JWU snapped a four-game losing run while also picking up their 16th-straight win over the Cadets dating back to 2012.

Next on the docket for the Wildcats is when they take part in a four-team tournament hosted by Stevens that will begin on December 29.

Going into the tournament, Fiorito is averaging 6.7 points per game, while also compiling 20 rebounds, nine assists and 13 steals, with the latter placing him at the top of the Wildcat ledger.

The women's hockey team at Saint Michael's has placed three different goaltenders between the pipes thus far this season, with one of the trio of netminders earning playing time for the Purple Knights being Warwick native Gabriella Dicomitis.

Even though she hasn't claimed the starting job, the Williston Northampton alumna has seen action in three games, appearing in relief in a pair of contests while also getting the starting nod in a 3-1 defeat to Post on October 16.

Dicomitis made a season-high 26 saves but was unable to stop the Eagles' Madison Turley from opening the scoring 8:15 into the first stanza, before her teammate Kiersten Browning later added a brace of markers to provide the eventual margin of victory.

Her other appearances to date have both come against Sacred Heart, playing the final period of the teams' October 2 meeting before stopping 18 shots in relief of Leah White on November 19 as the Pioneers delivered a 10-0 pummeling of Saint Michael's.

The Purple Knights are currently in the middle of their holiday break and will be looking to improve on their 2-12 mark in the new year, which they will begin with a clash with Castleton on January 4 before squaring off with Franklin Pierce on January 7 and 8.
