The employees of Narragansett Bay Insurance Company (NBIC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Heritage Insurance Holdings, Inc., joined together to support the RI Community Food Bank this holiday season. Due to the pandemic, NBIC was unable to hold its annual food drive or participate in volunteer activities at the Food Bank.
However, still wanting to make a difference, employees organized a campaign seeking online financial donations. NBIC was so inspired by the generosity of its employees, who contributed thousands of dollars online, that the company presented an additional check for $5,000 to Food Bank CEO Andrew Schiff.
NBIC’s donation comes at a perfect time, as the “End Hunger Challenge” is currently underway. This initiative matches contributions to the Food Bank before the end of 2020, effectively doubling the impact of NBIC’s gift to $10,000. Now more than ever, food insecurity is prevalent across all RI communities, and NBIC is pleased to help the Food Bank assist as many families as possible. This employee-driven initiative was part of NBIC’s continued commitment to supporting local non-profit organizations.
Kim McCauley, chief human resource officer, was proud of the response from NBIC's employees, stating: “Our employees share our commitment to supporting local charities that are making a real difference in the lives of Rhode Islanders. We are always happy to support the great work of the Food Bank, and we will continue to help them as they work to eliminate hunger in our state.”
