The Rhode Island State Police (RISP), Rhode Island State Police Museum and Education Center, Department of Public Safety, the Rhode Island Troopers Association, the Office of the U.S. Attorney, the Office of the Rhode Island Attorney General and the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association have launched the “Kids, Cops and Christmas” toy drive, which will run from now until Dec. 15.
“Our Troopers look forward to participating in collecting gifts for Kids, Cops and Christmas every year,” said Colonel Darnell S. Weaver, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of the Department of Public Safety. “Collaborating with our law enforcement partners on something that helps the Rhode Islanders we serve every day is very important to us. We appreciate the opportunity to help our community during this holiday season.”
“Kids, Cops and Christmas is a great example of the spirit of giving and public service that motivates law enforcement officers across Rhode Island every single day,” said United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha. “It’s an honor and a pleasure for our office to join with our state and local law enforcement partners to kick off this year’s campaign to bring some holiday cheer to kids in need.”
The agencies are seeking donations of new, unwrapped gifts and gift cards with a value of $25 or less and for toddlers through teens.
Donations can be brought to any RISP barracks and any Cardi’s Furniture & Mattresses location.
Toys will be given to these organizations for distribution:
The Rhode Island State Police Museum Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization and all donations are tax-deductible. Corporate contributions and donations made by check are welcome.
