Providence police Maj. David A. Lapatin, a Cranston resident, was inducted into the Rhode Island Criminal Justice Hall of Fame last Thursday night.
"I am extremely pleased to receive this induction. I am honored to have my name alongside some of the most prominent names in the history of criminal justice for the State of Rhode Island," Lapatin said, according to the Providence Police Department.
According to Lindsay Lague, the department’s chief public information officer, Lapatin accepted the induction on behalf of his family and the City of Providence. He said both played very influential roles in his career.
Lapatin and his wife, Sandra, married more than 35 years ago and settled in Cranston. They raised three children, Sam, Stephen and Jenna, and have one grandchild, Audrey Lapatin.
