“My Big Fat Greek Wedding” was the comedy movie of the summer. Matt Damon starred in the spy thriller, “The Bourne Identity.” My granddaughters liked “Scooby-Doo” – I suffered through it.

Anne Scurria starred in Trinity’s moving play, “Wit,” one of the few plays and performances that brought tears to my eyes; it was about a woman dying of ovarian cancer, and yet it is funny and emotionally uplifting.

Theatre-by-the-Sea opened its 69th season with “Anything Goes.” Cranston’s Chris Chianesi was the only kid in the cast.

Cranston educator Mark Colozzi transforms from Cranston East Band Director into Mixed Nuts for his comedy show at Luigi’s in Johnston – which was playing around the state in June.

Rachel York played the title role in “Kiss Me, Kate” at the Providence Performing Arts Center.

Gamm Theatre presented Edward Albee’s absurdist play, “American Dream” starring Joanne Gentile and Joshua Allen.

Two Cranstonians, Russell Berrigan and Hope Pilkington, had supporting roles.

Former Trinity actor got his big break in the classic movie, “Diner.”

Anne Scurria filled in for an actress who broke her leg in the starring role of “Tintypes at Trinity.” As usual, she was terrific.

A young Harrison Ford starred in “Blade Runner.” It was a hot year for summer movies with “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” hitting the big screen. JoBeth Williams starred in “Poltergeist”.

“E.T.” played at Garden City Cinema for the entire summer.

The film version of “Annie” opened with Carol Burnett chewing up the scenery as Miss Hannigan.

Parish House Players did “Side by Side by Sondheim.” Heritage Playhouse did “On Golden Pond.” “Chapter Two” was at the West Valley Inn.

“Hooters” was at Brown Summer Theatre.

“Peter Pan” was at the Ocean State (PPAC).

Jane Oliver was at the Ocean State.

Rainbow was at the Providence Civic Center.
