BREAKING AND ENTERING

Paul Nicholson, 53, 2020 Elmwood Ave., Warwick, was arraigned the afternoon of May 7 on a felony charge of breaking and entering.

Nicholson was released on $5,000 surety bail, and he has a pre-arraignment conference set for Aug. 7. Nicholson’s arrest stems from an alleged incident that occurred the morning of April 16. On that date, Patrolmen Michael A. Schiappa and Adam Parkinson responded to Greenville Avenue for a report of an alarm.

Upon arrival, Schiappa said they observed the glass front door of the business to be broken with a large hole in the bottom half. He said he also saw multiple cartons of cigarettes scattered across the front steps of the entranceway steps.

Schiappa said they then climbed through the hole in the front door and searched the interior of the business for any suspects, but there were none. While inside the business, Schiappa said they saw multiple cartons of cigarettes on the floor behind the register as well as a large section of cigarette cartons missing from the wall display. He and Parkinson then exited the business through the hole in the front door without disturbing the crime scene. LARCENY

Detective James L. Seymore responded to Kent County Courthouse on the afternoon of May 7 to have John Millington, 18, 3 Potter Road, North Haven, Connecticut, sign a Third Division District Court summons to appear on Sept. 7.

Millington was charged with a misdemeanor count of larceny under $1,500. Millington signed the summons, but was not processed then due to pending cases with the Coventry and West Greenwich police departments.

Millington’s arrest stemmed from an alleged incident that occurred the morning of Jan. 16. Patrolman Andrew J. Broccoli responded to the report of a larceny from a motor vehicle, at which time he met with the complainant. He advised that his vehicle was rummaged through during overnight hours. The man said he believed his vehicle door was left unlocked.

Broccoli was advised that an owner nearby had a surveillance system, soon after reviewing footage with him. At about 5:42 a.m., it appears that a dark-colored SUV pulled up in front of a residence, exiting and attempting to gain entry to a neighbor’s vehicle door, but they did not make entry. The suspect vehicle drives down the road one minute later. The surveillance was grainy, Broccoli said, and did not provide a detailed description of the vehicle.
