A Greenville woman died from injuries suffered in a crash on Hartford Avenue during heavy rain on Thursday night.
Around midnight, Thursday, July 18, Johnston Police responded to the vicinity of 2750 Hartford Ave. following reports of a single-car crash, according to Johnston Police Chief Mark A. Vieira.
“Upon arrival, it was determined a Nissan Rogue traveling eastbound on Hartford Avenue struck a utility pole,” Vieira said Friday afternoon.
Police identified the driver as 36-year-old Michaela Greatorex of Greenville.
According to police, Greatorex suffered “life-threatening injuries and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where she was pronounced dead.”
“No passengers were in the vehicle,” Vieira said. “At the time of the accident, the area was experiencing heavy downpours. The department’s accident reconstruction unit responded and the crash remains under investigation.”
