Play ball!
While the Johnston Little League closed out another highly-successful fall ball season a few months back, the ageless youth baseball program is gearing up for that players and parents are hoping with be a full season of practices and games.
The JLL, which is closing in on its 60th anniversary season, welcomes boys and girls ages 7-16 and is comprised of three divisions: Minors AAA (7-10), Majors (9-12) and Juniors/Seniors (ages 13-16).
So, if your son and/or daughter wants to play in the league, all parents have to do is sign up on line at jllri.com and officials noted that proof of residency and birth certificates are not required to register on line, however, may be requested prior to opening day.
Each player is also assessed a fee of $110 the league will provide all necessary player and team information as well as tryout dates. Registration will be open until March 13, 2021.
So, it’s straight ahead for the 2021 season which, as noted, comes on the heels of the fall ball campaign, most especially for the championship club which was sponsored by Johnston town Council President Robert V. Russo.
Team Russo, which posted an impressive 11-1-1 Fall Ball record, swept the best of three championship series vs. A.G. & G., Inc. taking Game One, 7-1, then posted a 4-2 triumph for the title clincher. The team was coached by Steven Finnegan and Town Councilman Robert Civetti.
Members of the championship club were Jayden Breault, Cameron Frenier, Anthony Sevigny, Stephen Darienzo, Yiannis Fotopoulos, Steven Finnegan, Christopher Civetti, Dean Paris, Landon Guernon, Logan Home and Kevin Biscelli. Cutline
