The Johnston Little League All-Star teams have been busy in the past week as they battle their way through their respective District I brackets, with hopes of reaching the state tournaments and beyond on the line.
Here are some of the results from JLL’s teams:
After falling to Cranston Western, the JLL 12’s bounced back to beat Mt. Pleasant 13-1 on Monday.
Marcus Rego had a huge game when he drove in four runs to pace the offense. Eric Barboza also knocked in a run in the win.
Boston Wood got the win on the mound, pitching three innings and allowing no earned runs, no hits while striking out two batters.
The team will next face North Providence on Wednesday.
The JLL 10’s had a couple big games to roll in DI, beating Fox Point 12-1 then Cranston East 13-1.
Jack Kelly led the way at the plate by going 2-for-3 with five RBI against Fox Point, while Luca Orsini also drove in multiple RBI. Bryce Parenteau finished the day with four strikeouts on the mound while Lucas Proulx added three more.
Nolan Rego and Proulx drove in two runs each against East, while Evan Young and Christiano Jackson had multi-hit games as well. Orsini pitched three innings and struck out four batters while Parenteau added another strikeout in an inning of relief.
The team took on Cranston Western on Tuesday, but the results were not available at press time.
The Johnston senior team fell to Cranston East 14-4.
Owen Polofsky drove in a pair of runs and Corey Ogden added another. Polofsky, Jake Rankin and Angel Polanco combined for eight strikeouts on the mound.
The team had a shot at redemption when it faced East in a rematch on Tuesday.
