JHS National Honor Society blood drive, with strict precautions, set for July 6

Posted

On July 6, Johnston High School’s National Honors Society will be hosting a blood drive at the Johnston Senior Center. Donations will be taken from noon until 8 p.m.

Due to the current situation, those wishing to donate must make an appointment at ribc.org/drives using the sponsor code 0441. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a parental permission slip, which can be found at ribc.org/permission.

Precautions will be taken at this event in order to ensure the safety of donors. Precautions include promoting social distancing, requiring all staff and donors to wear face coverings, taking the temperatures of all donors and of staff before they come into work, spacing out chairs in the reception, donation, and refreshment areas, providing unused pens to each donor for the pre-screening questionnaire, disinfecting donor clipboards and chairs after every use and regularly disinfecting high touch surfaces in the reception, donation, and refreshment areas.

Along with the precautions listed above, all donors will be asked if they have been diagnosed with or suspected of having coronavirus and if they have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with or suspected of having coronavirus within the last 14 days. Staff with coronavirus-related symptoms will remain out of work until they have been cleared by human resources.
