To the Editor:
“I am proud to be a firefighter.”
So begins The Firefighter’s Creed. It continues with the pledge that “I never, by word or deed, will bring reproach upon the fair name of the fire service, nor permit others to do so unchallenged.”

Firefighters who are rightly proud of their service should recommit to their Creed and renounce this disreputable practice. It is in their power, and it is their solemn duty and obligation, to do so.
