In support of Bill Foley

Posted

To the Editor,

I am writing this letter to congratulate and thank the citizens of Warwick Ward One for choosing Councilman Bill Foley to represent them.  Bill is one of three members on the Finance Committee and serves as Chairman of the Public Safety Committee.  He is known as a man of integrity, strong conviction and love for the city of Warwick!

Serving as Chairman of the Finance committee, I have had the great luck and pleasure serving with Bill and Ward nine Councilman Vinny Gebhart.  Bill does his research and seeks answers to any questions from the finance docket before the council meeting.  This ensures complete understanding of the items and enforces a forum of respect and timely results.

The past two years have presented our city with immense challenges.  The transition of Executive administrations, the re-opening of our city post pandemic magnified by a global supply shortage and out of control housing values.  Bill never hesitated to make the decisions that keeps Warwick moving forward.  With his input and support, we successfully lobbied the State House to postpone the state mandated revaluation.  This move prevented Warwick homeowners from paying tax rates on 2021 values during a stuttering 2022 economy.  Bill also endorsed moves to assist the city to better handle possible supply issues.

Councilman Foley’s achievements that directly benefit Ward One include, but definitely not limited to;  33% reduction in sewer assessments, worked with our WPD traffic division to address relentless speeding on Pawtuxet, Governor Francis and other hot points in the Ward, Improvements to Salter Grove park, and streamlined funding for additional roads to be paved.  Working with Mayor Picozzi and the council, Councilman Foley guaranteed a fourth straight year of zero tax increases, Moved all city services to the Sawtooth Building and updated our Police, Fire and city fleet of vehicles as well as perform desperate maintenance on our infrastructure.

Bill and his wonderful wife of 42 years, Martha, raised children who embody the model of service.  Kim, an Educational Administrator. Mike, a Lieutenant in the Providence Fire Department and Union President and Greg, a US Army Ranger combat veteran..

I respectfully ask the citizens of Ward One to again vote for Bill Foley so we can continue Warwick’s great success!
