Running a little late on your Christmas shopping?

No need to worry.  The Johnston Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) will host its 13th annual “Holly Fair” at the high school next Saturday, Dec. 14, and there will be lots to choose from.

The group said that this year’s fair will feature more than 40 vendors showcasing items that include handcrafted woodworking, jewelry, lamps, handbags, textiles, wreaths, Christmas ornaments, and more. And it is rumored that Santa Claus will make an appearance.

The fair is the organization’s largest fundraising event of the year, and the proceeds raised help the PTSO grant scholarships to two graduating seniors every year.  It will be held in the high school cafeteria and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In the past, the annual holiday event has drawn hundreds of people and PTSO members said they hope that this year will be the biggest and best yet.

The organization met recently at the high school library to discuss what sort of refreshments will be available and PTSO treasurer and former president Lance Niles noted that the fair takes months of planning.  The PTSO has about a dozen members, he said, and it is committed to supporting the students and teachers at Johnston Senior High School.

“We encourage people to attend,” said PTSO President Susie Cuellar-Daza. “It is a great family event and a good way to engage in the community.

“Our goal is to make it a longstanding tradition for the Johnston school community.”

Johnston High School is located at 345 Cherry Hill Road.
