Holiday spirit abounds at St. Barnabas bazaar

Family fun, friends, fine food and fellowship.

Those were the ingredients that went into the St. Barnabas Church Christmas Bazaar held Saturday.

For starters, Schweitzer Hall was aglow with Christmas decorations and different booths that were well-placed around the perimeter of the hall filled with countless gifts people purchased for that someone special.

Likewise, the White Elephant Room was transformed into a bargain basement of sorts and young and old alike took home everything from dolls with pigtails to a variety of vintage treasures.

In the middle of it all were Rev. Scott R. Lee, pastor at St. Barnabas and Emily Seddon-McMahon who served as chairlady for the sixth season.

Father Scott, in fact, was a one-person welcoming committee and greeted everyone with a special hello and handed each bazaar goers a beautifully printed and colorful advertising-booster book.

Meanwhile, Seddon-McMahon continuously made her way around the room – as well as the Lunch Cafeteria -- where people enjoyed homemade quiche with salad, chili, chicken salad sandwiches and soup, hot dogs, old-fashioned grill cheese sandwiches and much to everyone surprise a variety of Allie’s Donuts.

People were impressed with the themed baskets, family movie night passes, Italian offerings bird feeders and food, car wash certificates and more.

Seddon-McMahon announced “as everyone agreed, we had a tremendously successful bazaar. Actually, it was best we’ve had in quite some time and best I’ve enjoyed as chairperson.”

More important, she added: “The event is never possible without everyone‘s energy and effort. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes, starting in the summer, that makes the event possible. We rally together for the good of the church in a way that clearly shows a call to God.”
