Seemingly overnight after months of site preparations and the delivery of steel guiders, the nearly 500,000 square foot (that’s more than 10 acres) warehouse being built by North Point has risen on Commerce Drive. The method of construction, the pouring of cement wall panels on site that are then lifted into place, is fairly new to Rhode Island although common to other parts of the country according to a supervisor on site. While a North Point representative answered a call, he did not say when the project is to be completed or whether the company has a tenant for the mammoth structure within sight of the airport.
