Glen Hills students share what Veterans Day means to them
SO THANKFUL: First grader Lucas Pirolli, 6, shared that Veterans Day means being thankful because veterans gave us freedom. Lucas celebrated with his great-grandfather Papa Rosa. Bill Rosa, who’s a Johnston resident, served in the Navy in World War 2.
FIGHTING FOR US: Second grader Sydney Silva, 7, shared that Veterans Day is about celebrating veterans because they fight against other people for us. She attended the Glen Hills coffee social with her dad who was in the army on active duty for three years.
RISKING THEIR LIVES: Fourth grader Will Moretta, 9, said a veteran means someone who risks their life to protect us and our freedom. He attended the Glen Hills coffee social with his grandfather Robert Struck who served from 1961 to 1967.
WORKED HARD: Second grader David Turcotte, 7, shared that Veterans Day honors those who have worked hard to fight for this county. He attended breakfast at Glen Hills with his great-grandfather (Pop Pop) Joseph Cimini who served in the Korean War and was a Lieutenant Colonel; he spent 25 years in the service.
