Exploring the Greenway

Posted

The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council and 15 Minute Field Trips recently led a stroll along the Woonasquatucket River Greenway, allowing participants to explore the trees, fungi, and wildlife along the river. While walking on the Greenway’s bike path, they saw the recently completed stormwater projects, pollinator gardens, and the new outdoor classroom adjacent to the river.

The two organizations are collaborating on a monthly series of walks along the Greenway, which begins on Lyman Avenue in Johnston. Their next walk is the family-friendly “Turkey Trot” on Nov. 29 from 10 a.m to 11:30 a.m.

Participants will meet at the Goldsmith Street entrance off Lee Avenue in Johnston. The Greenway is wheelchair accessible.

“This leisurely walk is perfect for all ages and abilities, making it a great way to celebrate the holiday season and connect with nature,” the organizations said.
