Eden Park’s Pathfinder Project receives award

Cranston Public Schools is proud to announce that the Eden Park Elementary School Pathfinder Project, completed in 2019, has received a Citation of Excellence Award in the Learning By Design Fall 2021 Architectural and Interior Design Awards of Excellence program.

Designed by Fielding International LLC, an international education design firm, the project received high marks for all seven judging criteria and was especially recognized for its sophisticated use of color and lighting. The Eden Park project was one of just six projects to receive the Citation of Excellence Award. There were 81 other projects in the competition.

The whirlwind construction project at Eden Park began just prior to the close of the 2018-19 school year and is better known as the Pathfinder Project. The partial school renovation of the intermediate wing was designed to be a “model home” of sorts, showcasing the new direction that future Cranston Public Schools facility projects will take in the years ahead.

The new learning community at Eden Park was officially opened in September 2019 and the remainder of the building is slated to be completed as part of the district’s five-year school construction plan and school bond, which was overwhelmingly approved by voters in the November 2020 election.

The primary wing’s renovation and modernization will feature the same excellence in design as the intermediate wing, with 21st-century features for teaching and learning, health and safety updates including modern bathrooms, a state-of-the-art HVAC system, and acoustical treatments and varied lighting in classrooms.
