When Shannon Cornicelli first opened her gym, Dream Big Academy, it was the fulfillment of a long-held dream of her own. As a competitive gymnast whose career began in her youth, Cornicelli knew that, given the chance, she could create a safe and state-of-the-art facility where she could nurture talent and instill in others the love of a sport that had come to define her life. Her big dreams have been realized here at this full-equipped, modern gym in Cranston.

This summer, many gymnasts and ninja athletes are participating in Dream Big Academy’s many day camps, held each week until the end of August. The camps provide a “high energy”, full-day experience for boys and girls, ages four years old and older. Campers are organized into groups according to age which are led by qualified coaches and counselors who focus on FUN-filled activities. Participants learn gymnast skills on the gym’s equipment, including the vaults, uneven bars, springboards, balance beams, trampoline, and tumbling mats. Each week, the campers are introduced to a new theme which is reinforced through arts & craft projects, outdoor activities, water play, bouncy house fun and so much more. Call today to inquire about openings in August!

On the weekends, why not host your child’s birthday party at Dream Big Academy? These parties include an hour and a half of structured gymnastics or Ninja instruction as well as a half hour in the gym’s party area. There is a “Wipe-out” style obstacle course, parachute play, trampoline, monkey ropes and age-appropriate games. The gym supplies the festive tablecloths, balloons, and goody bags. Dream Big has even named one of the best places to have a birthday party by “Best Things Rhode Island.”

One thing that fans of Dream Big Academy may not know about is the important work that owner Shannon Cornicelli is doing to help support fellow gymnasts in war-torn Ukraine. In addition to the gym’s classes and camps, Cornicelli has created Dream Big Athletics, a uniform company. It is through this growing business that she is trying to make some inroads in the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

Shannon Cornicelli and her team at Dream Big Athletic have committed to donating a portion of the proceeds from all sales at this uniform company towards outfitting the Ukrainian Women’s Jr. and Sr. National Gymnastics Team. In fact, Dream Big Athletic has outfitted the team for all their international competitions this summer, as well as the upcoming competitive season.

For those interested in participating in this great effort, they can purchase a Ukrainian “Peace tank” through https://dreambigathletic.com/ukrainian-peace-tank/. Furthermore, gymnastic clubs throughout the country can start designing their competitive uniforms by visiting https://dreambigathletic.com/custom.design/.
