East, West take on trio of teams

By ALEX SPONSELLER The Cranston East and West outdoor track and field teams squared off against Toll Gate, Mount Pleasant and La Salle on Monday. Here are some of the results from the meet: GIRLS

Samantha Sainristil won the discus throw for East while teammate Bethanie Jean-Philippe won the javelin. East’s Stella Loezos then won the 800 run.

West’s Mikaya Parente won the long jump while teammate Quiana Pezza won the triple jump. East’s Madison Gunderway later won the hammer. Toll Gate’s Ally Pankowicz won the 1,500 run while teammate Hannah Horace won the shot put. Mikaylah Johnson won the 100 dash in her group.

West’s Dea Xhupi won her group in the 400 as well as Ashlee Tennet, Julia DeFilippo and Danielle DeSocio.

West’s relay team of Parente, Lindsey Hobin, Pezza and Ailani Sutherland won the 400 while East’s team of Loezos, Zoe Catrambone, Aislinn and Madeline Baxter won the 1,600. Hobin also won her section of the 200 along with teammate Aliyah Gervais.

Chezka Awid won her section of the 100 for Toll Gate, as did West’s Ashley Regan. Abby Regan took first in the 200.

Toll Gate’s Marie DelVicario took second in her group of the 100, as did Sutherland. DelVicario also took second place in her group in the 200.

Juliana Andrus finished second in the 400 for West, while Catrambone finished second in the 800. Julianna Bucci finished second in the shot put and discus for West. Horace also finished second in the hammer. Maia Riccio took second in the javelin for West. BOYS

West’s Stephen Faccenda won the discus as well as the shot put and hammer, while teammate Kris Degaitas won the high hurdles in his group. East’s A’Driahn Foreman finished first in his group in the 100 dash.

Toll Gate’s Patrick Wilson won the 400, while West’s Cole Khanjari won the 800. Wyatt Harris won his group in the 1,500, while West’s Mike Conti won the long jump for the Falcons.

Degaitas later finished second in the 300 hurdles while Conti took second in his group of the 100. Matthew Baccari finished second in his group in the 200.

West’s Drew Evans finished second in the 400 for his group, as did Toll Gate’s Luis Cruz. Toll Gate’s Bryce Barker placed second in the 800. West’s Alex DelNigro finished second in the long jump as well as the triple jump.

East’s Ryan Fonseca took second in the hammer, while West’s Manny Soler took second in the high jump.
