Rhode Island College freshman guard Antonia Corsinetti (Johnston) was named the Little East Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for her performance in a pair of wins RIC victories.
Corsinetti averaged 13.5 ppg, 2.0 rpg and 2.5 apg on the week. She scored a career-high 15 points, which included knocking down a key three-pointer in the final minute, to go along with a pair of assists as the Anchorwomen downed Regis, 60-56, on Jan. 22. Corsinetti had 12 points, four boards, one assist and a steal as RIC crushed Plymouth State, 89-39, on Jan. 25.
For the season, she has played in 17 games, starting one of them, Corsinetti is averaging 4.0 ppg, 1.4 rpg and 1.6 apg.
Head Coach Jenna Cosgrove’s team began the winter 16-2 overall and 8-1 in the Little East.
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College continued Little East play at UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, Jan. 29 (5:30 p.m.), but the results were not available at press time.
