In the page one story “For RI students, a ‘Promise’ made permanent” that appeared in the Thursday, June 3, edition, Kellsie King’s high school and graduation year were incorrect. King is a 2018 graduate of Cranston High School East. The Herald regrets the error. ***

In the page one story “Report questions city’s projected investment return for pension fund” that appeared in the Thursday, June 10, edition, a quote from former mayor Allan Fung lacked important context. Fung’s defense of the 7.9 percent investment return projection used for the city’s closed police and fire pension plan – “I didn’t just choose that assumption out of the air” – should have been accompanied by this additional language: “Fung said the 7.9 percent investment return figure is rooted in the findings of an ‘experience study,’ which is completed every three years as a requirement of state law and assesses the assumptions on which the pension plan operates.”
