CLCF track shines at nationals

The USATF National Youth Outdoor Championships were held from June 29 to July 2 of this year. The meet was held at Icahn Stadium on Randalls Island, NY. The CLCF Panthers track club sent 13 athletes from RI to compete and they shined. CLCF came away with 6 All Americans in various events. All American is when an athlete finishes top 8 in their event.

For the 15-16 age group there was one All American. It was Maddie Dutra who placed second in the 1,500 with a time of 4:58.50 and sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:31.67. 

In the 11-12 age group Nate Brennick placed second overall in the 80 meter hurdles with a time of 14.58 and tied for 6th in the high jump with a jump of 3 ‘11”. Zia Fadil placed third in the 3000 meter with a time of 11:06.18 for the 11-12 age group.

Adonijah Martin placed sixth in the long jump with a 14’9” mark, second in the 400 meter with a time of 57.26, and third in the 200 meter with a time of 26.26. 

In the 9-10 age group Abby Martin placed sixth with a 52’3” throw in the javelin and seventh in the shot put with a 17’ throw. Malachi Martin placed first in the 100 meter, 200 meter, and the long jump. He set a facility record with his time in the finals of the 100 meter with his time of 13.28. In the 200 he ran a time of 27.42 and in the long jump he jumped 14’4.8”.

The following athletes competed for the team as well. Max Parent competed in the 800 and 1500 meters. Renee Dansereau competed in the 400 and 800 meter. Natalia Sanchez competed in the long jump and the 200 meter. Evelyn Yanovich ran in the 800 and 1500 meter. Leah Yanovich ran in the 80 meter hurdles and the 400 meter. Israel Martin ran the 100, 200, and 400 meter races. Ryan Stoloff also ran the 100, 200, and 400 meter races. They all competed well in their events with many of them hitting their season best.
