Annual RI Community
Food Bank Benefit Concert

Lakewood Baptist Church will host its annual Rhode Island Community Food Bank benefit concert on Sunday, April 2, 255 Atlantic Ave., Warwick, at 6:30 p.m.  Refreshments will be available after the concert.  Begin Holy Week with good music and fellowship.  The performing churches are Lakewood Baptist Church, Norwood Baptist Church, Spring Green Memorial Church, Warwick Central Baptist Church, Woodbury Union Presbyterian Church, Second Baptist Church, South Hadley, MA and Acoaxet Chapel Praise Team, Westport, MA.

Admission is at least one non-perishable food item (all of the food will go to West Bay Marketplace).  A free will offering will also be taken (checks payable to RI Community Food Bank).  If you are unable to attend and would like to donate, please make checks out to: RI Community Food Bank and send to Lakewood Baptist Church, attention: Lincoln Smith. 


Gaspee Senior Meeting

Gaspee Seniors will hold their next meeting on April 4, at the Pilgrim Senior Center, 27 Pilgrim Pkwy, Warwick, at 1:30 p.m.  This meeting will be a painting class given by Patty Martucci .  The next meeting will be on April 18,2023 .

Easter Egg Hunt

Children ages 9 and under are invited to the annual Easter Egg Hunt on the grounds of the Oakland Beach School, 383 Oakland Beach Ave., Saturday, April 8, at noon. In addition to the hunt featuring thousands of eggs filled with candy and toys, the event will include a raffle for gift certificates and other items, goody bags, a visit from the Easter Bunny, and free hamburgers. The egg hunt will kick off promptly at noon and is usually over very quickly! Rain or shine - dress appropriately. Please bring your own bags to hold eggs and prizes. Sponsored by the Oakland Beach Association.

Annual Fishing Derby

Tri-City Elks Lodge, 1915 W. Shore Rd. Warwick, will hold its Annual Fishing Derby for boys & girls Ages 5 - 12. Sunday, April 16, 7 – 11 a.m. Two age groups 5 - 8 and 9 - 12. You will need to have your own fishing pole and bait!  A fishing pole will be awarded to one child in each group that catches the LARGEST fish!  Awards will be given at 11 a.m. with hotdogs and chips to follow.

Stop in any day of the week after 3 p.m. except for Thursday after 4 p.m. for kid sign-up.  Deadline for sign-up is at the end of the day on Saturday, April 15.   For more information, please call:  401-737-9510.

Come, celebrate, 103 years of Troop 1 Conimicut and the 114th year of Boy Scouts at a membership drive , Wednesday, April 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Woodbury Union Church, 58 Beech Avenue, Warwick.

Looking for adventure, new friends, new skills, leadership experience, and to give back to your community? Check out their slideshow of past and present trips and explorations. Talk with some Scouts and listen to their stories and experiences. Ask them questions and see what they are all about. Boys or Girls 11 through 17 and parents are welcome to help them celebrate. NAMI-RI: Family-to Family course

The Rhode Island chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is now accepting registration for our next virtual Family-to-Family course which begins Wednesday, April 26 , 6:30 – 9 p.m. This is a free, 8-session educational program for family, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. It is a designated evidence-based program, which means that research shows that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to a person with a mental health condition. NAMI-Rhode Island’s Family-to-Family course is taught by trained family members who have lived experience with a loved one, and includes presentations, discussions and interactive activities.

The Warwick Rotary Club will hold a benefit breakfast on Tuesday, May 2, 7 – 9:30 a.m. at Kent Hospital Blue Wave Café, 455 Toll Gate Rd., Warwick.  Proceeds to benefit Warwick Rotary Charitable Grant Program and Kent Employee Emergency Program (KEEP).

Crafting for Critters Craft Fair
Supports Homeless Animals

The 9th Annual Crafting for Critters Spring Craft Fair will be held outdoors on Saturday, May 13,  at the Airport Professional Park, 2348 Post Road, Warwick, RI from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Hosted by Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter, over 70 artisans will be selling their locally handcrafted items just in time for Mother’s Day! Items for sale include fine art, jewelry, crafts, handcrafted accessories, garden items, apparel, home decor, baked goods, candies, jams & jellies, dog treats, pet accessories, books and more.  Event is outdoors. Admission and parking are free. Food trucks will be on the premises.

 Amenity Aid – Volunteers Needed

 We are looking for volunteers that would like to help us plan and staff community events, organize hygiene product collection drives and raise funds for Amenity Aid. If you are interested in doing any of the above or would like to be a member of our Community Outreach Committee, please contact Stacey Silva, Community Outreach Chair at Stacey@AmenityAid.org.

 Amenity Aid’s mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable populations by creating access to essential hygiene products. Serving all of Rhode Island, we distribute toiletry necessities to those most vulnerable through our network of direct service agencies.

Calling All Cribbage Players

Do you play cribbage? If so, consider joining a small group of cribbage players every Friday at 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., who meet and play at the East Greenwich Community Center, Pierce Street, East Greenwich. Citizenship Prep Classes at WPL

Prepare for the U.S. Naturalization Interview with Citizen Preparation classes at the Warwick Public Library. Practice citizenship vocabulary, learn the necessary civics content, and work on interview skills using the N-400 application form. Classes meet on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon, starting Sept. 25. Sign up at the library. For more information, call (401) 455-8041. These free classes are offered by the RI Family Literary Initiative.

We Make RI, an organization that provides free manufacturing training, hosts a series of job fairs every Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon, 200 First Ave., Cranston. We Make RI offer job seekers a chance to meet with employers, get career counseling, resume help and more.
