The visiting Westerly football team stayed hot as it cruised past Cranston East 42-6 last Friday night at Cranston Stadium.
Westerly entered the game as one of the state’s hottest teams. The Bulldogs pulled off a major upset win over Central the previous week and continued that momentum into the first half against East, where they mounted a 21-0 lead by the break.
Westerly enjoyed a big third quarter and would take a 42-0 lead in the fourth quarter. East’s lone score came on a rushing touchdown by Peyton Ginolfi in the fourth.
East dropped to 0-6 on the season and will next face Shea this week, who beat South Kingstown last weekend. East will wrap up its season the following week when it takes on Portsmouth in the regular season finale.
Despite East’s winless record, the Bolts nearly pulled off a big upset over Woonsocket when they led by multiple score sin the second half. The Bolts also dropped a close decision to Barrington the week before.
