As it has done for decades Pawtuxet Memorial Cemetery lined the roads leading through the cemetery with American flags bearing the names of veterans buried there. The flags serves as a reflective display bringing both family and friends of the deceased as well as pausing on Memorial Day together. Some families even made the occasion an outing. For Lynne Linden, pictured here, it was the setting for a quiet moment at the grave of her parents, Albert and Sarah Howland who died months apart of each other in 1996. A US Marine Corps sergeant, her father served during WWII and was injured in a battle for the Marshall Islands. Upon returning to Rhode Island he ended up working at Federal Products.
