Aucone vying for Miss Outstanding Teen Rhode Island

Bethany Littlefield and Rachel Aucone aren’t the only two people toasting the extraordinary talents and giving efforts of Nicki Aucone.

“Nicki is the excellent example of someone, especially a teenager, who takes pride in doing good for people in the community,” said Littlefield, a secretary at the Johnston Fire Department who enjoys serving as co-president of the Sarah Dyer Barnes School Parent-Teacher Organization. “We are all proud of what Nicki has done!”

Nicki Aucone is a former student at Sarah Dyer Barnes School who now attends Nicholas A. Ferri Middle School, and she is running for the prestigious title of Miss Outstanding Teen Rhode Island.

As tradition has it, all contestants for such beauty pageants are required to raise money for the pageant in addition to, in some cases, procuring advertising for the pageant program book.

“She far exceeded her fundraising goal!” Littlefield exclaimed. “However, instead of giving all the money to the pageant Nicki wanted to give back to the community.”

So, as Littlefield noted with excitement ringing in her voice: “Nicki first wanted to thank the janitors for keeping Ferri Middle School clean and sanitized and she bought them lunch from This Guy’s Pizza in Johnston. Additionally, she wanted to thank the Johnston firefighters for keeping our community safe, so she ordered and paid for lunch at Riccotti’s Sandwich Shop on Atwood Avenue for all four first stations in town.”

Needless to say, Nicki’s mother Rachel was “extremely proud” of what her daughter did while Battalion Chief Tom Marcello called Aucone’s action a “great example of a generosity and caring that benefitted a lot of people in town.”

Meanwhile JFD Battalion Chief Richard Boehm, who is well-known for his community caring efforts, added: “We’re all proud and thankful for what Nicki has accomplished; what a great example of caring and sharing. Now that’s an example of outstanding young woman no matter what title she’s running for!” Cutlines for submitted pix
