A heartwarming surprise came with toys, treats and huge smiles for animal lovers as New England-founded Dunkin came bearing gifts for the Cranston Animal Shelter’s most important guests recently.
Dunkin showed its appreciation for the Cranston Animal Shelter staff and everything they do by surprising them with a few presents.
The bounty ranged from items such as free pup cups (small cups of whipped cream) for adoptable dogs, to a $100 Dunkin gift card for the staff, to the coverage of adoption fees for Bam-Bam, the only dog at the shelter without his fees already sponsored.
According to the press release, the idea for this came from a recent TV segment where Cranston police Sgt. Gregg Bruno and Cranston police Animal Control Officer Leanne Garzone spoke about the volunteer work they put in to help shelter dogs.
Col. Michael Winquist, Cranston’s police chief, said some of the services volunteers provide include walking the dogs and driving them on “road trips” into the community to give them visibility.
He expressed his gratitude for the volunteers who pitch in “just for the love and passion of animals.”
Winquist says the shelter is always looking for volunteers and foster hosts, as it is important to get the dogs out of their kennels to socialize. He also thanked Dunkin for its surprise and encouraged any other businesses that might want to donate money for the animals at the shelter.
The shelter has four pets available for adoption. For more information on each pet, you can find their profiles on petfinder.com under the Cranston Animal Shelter page.
