While working on a storm drain Wednesday morning a Department of Public Works crew struck a 2 –inch main on Clorane Street promoting the evacuation of nearby homes.
Mayor Frank Picozzi said Wednesday the crew checked with Dig Safe, but that they can be off by as much as three feet. According to a National Grid spokesperson, three customers were impacted. They were evacuated by the Fire Department. The National Grid team at the site estimated 40 to 50 people were evacuated.
The spokesman said repairs would be completed by Wednesday afternoon.
