'Amazing' girls take CLCF title

Posted

In a season where nothing was certain, between COVID-19 restrictions, unusual weather patterns and school and family commitments, 12 girls came together as a team and brought themselves a winning season.

“These girls are amazing,” parent Ruthanne Farina said of the squad, Apponaug Animal Hospital. “Many didn’t know each other when the team first played, but made great friends and showed wonderful sportsmanship to each other.”

The girls played 10 games, making the playoffs then taking the championship.

Coach John Graziano says: “Young girls that understand the importance of teamwork and power of confidence; those girls win championships. Mark my words – you will hear from these girls again. Perhaps it will be in sports, maybe some will make the honor roll. I like to insist they all dream big because who knows just what accomplishments are within their reach. These girls are special and it was an absolute pleasure to coach them.”

Assisting Graziano were coaches Brian Lamarre, Ken Parks and Mike Palumbo.

The winning players included Emma Cardillo, Delaney Croke, Isabella Farina, Addison Graziano, Olivia Graziano, Ella Lamaree, Hannah Liese, Aison McCarty, Alicia Martinez, Jaylani Martinez, Ava Palumbo, Mia Parks, Hailey Shone and Hannah Shone.
