The Thunderbolt Golf Classic is going to be held at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 3 at the Cranston Country Club after a two-year hiatus due to Covid in 2020 and 2021. This golf classic began in 2003, under first year Head Coach Tom Centore, at the North Kingstown Golf Course at Quonset with the both the Cranston East Basketball and Football programs working together to raise funds for each program. In 2005, the football program continued the golf classic on its own, and the tournament was then moved to Richmond Country Club for one year but has since been held at the Cranston Country Club.

From 2003-2019, the golf tournament has helped raise money for scholarships to football student athletes attending either a two or four year college or university, and it has also provided financial assistance to players who wished to attend camps. In addition to student athlete support, the golf tournament helped purchase field equipment, practice and game uniforms, player equipment and weight room upgrades.

This golf classic has reunited several former thunderbolt football players who have participated as golfers in the tournament over the course of the first 18 tournaments. The golf tournament has always been the biggest fundraising event for the football program and the community support for the T-Sponsors, Hole Sponsors and raffle donations has helped the tournament to be successful. The 2022 golf tournament, which will be the first golf tournament organized by 2004 Cranston East graduate and second year Head Football Coach, Isaiah McDaniel, is an 18-hole scramble format, including an all you can eat dinner and raffle.
