Jennie George celebrated her 104th birthday with family and friends at Morgan Rehab & Healthcare Center in Johnston on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
One of eight children, Jennie was born on Nov. 19, 1920. She met her husband, who was her first and only boyfriend, at 16 years old. They were married for 51 years before he passed away. They had three children, and now have four grandchildren and four great grandchildren who Jennie loves dearly.
Jennie worked in the jewelry industry until retiring at age 62. Upon retirement, she began traveling which she enjoyed. She especially enjoyed going to Florida many winters as a snowbird one might say.
She lived with her daughter for 21 years before coming to Morgan Rehab. Her daughter was her main caregiver with the love and support of her two sons and two daughters-in-law. Most of her family is local, however she does have a granddaughter in Oregon and a son in Florida who flew in for her party. She has a grandson in California as well who recently flew in to visit with her.
Jennie and her family love Morgan Rehab and are very appreciative for the care they receive, as well as the support from nurses, CNAs and management. Her favorite activities are bingo/pokeno, music, cards, slots and casino.
