JYF 12U Panthers continue to roll

At 2-2, the topsy-turvy story of the 2019 12U Johnston Panthers began to take a wide turn for the better. Injuries began to heal and the roster slowly filled to full strength.

After a 19-0 victory over Central Falls, the Panthers found themselves on the road again, this time in Cardinal territory, versus Fairlawn, a team that this edition of the Panthers had never defeated.

On an unusually hot September morning, the Panthers rolled into enemy territory with a swagger than had built to a crescendo after a great week of practice and preparation. They felt prepared at kickoff and the positivity carried into the game on the offense. The Panthers scored quickly with a pair of halfback blasts, led by some great running and blocking.

A late score by the Panthers defense on an 80-yard fumble recovery and return for six, capped off the scoring and sealed the football game, with another shutout and a familiar score of 19-0.

Seven short days later, the Panthers found themselves in Exeter West Greenwich for another away game against a familiar rival, yet another foe that they had yet to get the best of, the Providence Patriots.

They took the opening kickoff down the field with a series of power runs, killing over six minutes of clock, finally punching the football into the end zone on a fullback dive and completing the PAT on a short pass play. There was little drama in the game, as the Panthers seized control and took a large first half lead of 20-0. The Panthers sat on the ball in the second half, intent on killing the clock with power runs, ending the game by a score of 27-6.

Next up for the 12U Panthers, another division rival, a team deadlocked with the Panthers in the standings at 4-2. The Fall River Falcons.

The Johnston Panthers (12U) Roster includes:

Brody Maguire, Preston Marchesseault, Jayden Allard, Lorenzo Giaccarini, Ethan Placella, Alius Santiago, Gabriel Zanni, Kaden Johnson, Johnathan Burgos, Thaden Leomensah, Matthew Clements, Michael Abbruzzi, Noah Jemery, Carlos Gutierrez, Michael Allard, Nathan Hall, David Roland, Adymilson Depina
