Winsor Hill Holiday Bonanza a Christmas treasure trove

Posted

If movie producers were in Johnston last Friday night for the Winsor Hill Holiday Bonanza, they’d probably come up with some sort of title like “A Christmas Classic!”

After all, Santa Claus even Mrs. Claus with a special elf were on hand and school spirit reigned supreme on during an event that was billed as “A Night of Shopping and Family Fun!”

A total of 20 vendors set up shop and offered bountiful bargains. There was a reindeer station, face-painting, raffles, popcorn and pizza and of course shopping.

Even the back playground at the always active school was transformed into what PTO President Gina Schino, who like many members of Winsor Hill’s family enlisted the services of their families, called “a mini La Sallette Shrine Lighting Display.”

It was difficult, people like Winsor Hill Secretary Donna Pingitore noted, “which activity is the most popular around here tonight.”

Without question, though, the Trolley Ride on a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority Bus that looks every bit like the trolleys on the hills of San Francisco, seemed to always have a waiting line and included an opportunity to take a photo with Santa as well get a close up view of the colorful light creation in the back school yard during the trolleys trip around Winsor Hill School.

People like Tom and Pat Ucci made and served freshly made pop corn, there were cookies and milk per Mrs. Claus and elf Deb Caruso, cookie decorating, letters to Santa and almost everything for young and old alike to enjoy.

“This is another best seller,” said John Graham, who helped his daughter Christina Graham and Athena Joannidi with their booth. “It seems as thought this school always has something special going on!”
