Volunteers sought to help renovate Operation Stand Down units

The Home Depot Foundation “Team Depot” is teaming up with Operation Stand Down RI to renovate six housing units at the Tony DeQuattro Veteran Complex located at 1010 Hartford Avenue in Johnston next week.

Operation Stand Down is seeking volunteers to assist with, the cleaning out and moving back in of the residents’ apartments. The duties involved would be moving furniture into storage Pods (on site), boxing up/organizing residents’ belongings into boxes, moving other furniture/light appliances, and other miscellaneous duties.

After the six units are emptied out, volunteers are needed to assist Team Depot for three days to do painting, replacing the floors and countertops, replacing the vanity, and toilet in the bathroom, updating appliances, and upgrading light fixtures and bulbs. When finished, volunteers will be asked to return the residents’ belongings to the apartment. The dates are hours volunteers are needed are as follows: Monday, October 16 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. – Cleaning Out; Tuesday, October 17 through Thursday, October, 19 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. – painting, cleaning, assisting Home Depot and laying floors and Friday, October 20 from 9 a.m.2 p.m. moving back in.
