Turning away from wicked ways

Posted

To the Editor:
There have been many “black days” in our country’s history but Monday, February 26, 2019 is the darkest ever. On that day, the U.S. Senate considered a bill that would outlaw infanticide of a newborn baby after a failed abortion. To be clear, a baby born and separated from the mother would be left to die. The bill to prohibit this grotesque, inhuman conduct failed to pass. To our most egregious, everlasting disgrace, our representatives to Congress by their vote refused to banish this ultimate barbaric, heinous act. Shame on them. (The major media outlets did not report this vote and that is not surprising as they are decidedly a tool of the progressive agenda.)
Most readers must be appalled that our society, our country has come to this level of depravity. And they are wondering how did our representatives fail us so dastardly? One answer might be our failure to elect courageous representatives rather than those like Senators Reed and Whitehouse, who voted against the bill that would have outlawed the ending of the life of a newborn baby. In fact, every member of their party voted as they did with the exception of 3. The Democrat Party is now controlled by radical progressive/socialists and that bodes badly for our future.
The reader should also consider this question: Why am I associated with a group or party that is so morally and ethically misguided that they cannot even understand the right to life of the most helpless, newborn citizen of our country? People should also be shocked that 60 million lives have been terminated since Roe V Wade (1973). In just the last fiscal year, Planned Parenthood has performed 332,257 abortions and received $563.8 million in taxpayer money for that year Are we now so callous that we think those are just numbers?
When Dwight Eisenhower was inaugurated, he requested an appropriate Bible passage from Billy Graham. Eisenhower placed his hand on this passage as he took the oath of office: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear them from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and heal their land.” (Sure would be a great plan now.)
