Disappearing into the sky

Three of the seven 3-megawatt wind turbines being erected off Plainfield Pike by Green Development are up and standing – including this one disappearing into Tuesday morning’s fog - with work being done on towers for the remaining four. When operational, the seven turbines will make up the state’s largest onshore wind farm. Cost of the project, capable of producing enough electricity for 8,400 homes, is projected at $100 million. As part of the project, Green Development is funding a $140,000 scholarship program for the town. A formal presentation is planned for Wednesday at Johnston High School. (Sun Rise photos)
