The Council Roundup is a digest of licenses, appointments and other proceedings from the Johnston Town Council’s April 8 meeting.

RESOLUTIONS

The council unanimously approved a resolution ratifying and authorizing Mayor Joseph Polisena to enter into agreement for a Livescan Booking system for the Police Department. Polisena explained to the council why leasing was the preferable option to purchasing the system.

“One of the problems … is that technology changes so often, so if we spend X amount of dollars and it’s good for a year, we have to eat it,” the mayor said. “So sometimes leasing, although I’m not a big person to lease, I’d rather own, but sometimes leasing in that situation is better than purchasing.”

The council also unanimously approved a resolution authorizing Polisena to amend a tower lease agreement between the town and T-Mobile Northeast LLC for the tower located at 23 Golden View Drive.

The council unanimously approved used car and holiday sales licenses for Green Light Auto Sales, located at 1 Hillside Ave.
