The Council Round-up is a digest of licenses, appointments and other proceedings from the Johnston Town Council’s Jan. 13 meeting.

LICENSES

The council approved, 4-0, a business operating license for Chewbarka, located at 165 Dyerville Ave., unit No. 2. The business will handle metal stampings and manufacturing ID tags and dog tags.

The council approved a business operating license for Supreme Star Fitness & Cafe, located at 1511 Atwood Ave. The cafe inside the gym will serve a variety of healthy options including, vegan and gluten-free offerings.

The council approved a business operating license for Evergreen Auto Recovery, located at 132 B Shun Pike.

The council approved a catering license transfer for Matilda, LLC located at 269 Greenville Ave.

The council approved a business operating license for J. Christopher Real Estate Group, located at 986 Hartford Ave.

The council approved a class BV full liquor license for Wings on 5, located at 1463 Atwood Ave., units E and F.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

The council voted to continue to the March 9 meeting a petition submitted by Alfred Russo, Esq., on behalf of Murial Alterio of 31 West Scenic View Drive to purchase a portion of a lot known as assessor’s plat 46, lot 105 from the town pending survey from petitioner.

NEW BUSINESS

The council voted to refer to the Planning Board a petition submitted by Peter and Pamela DelPonte to change the zone of the property known as assessor’s plat 59, assessor’s lot 338 from an R-40 zone to an R-20 zone.

The council voted to accept a petition from National Grid and Verizon to install a new jointly owned pole, No. 5-50, on 16 Sunnyside Ave.

PUBLIC HEARING

The council voted to continue until the March meeting the hearing on an ordinance amending various areas of the town code, including definitions and word usage, table of use regulations, flexible design residential projects, site plan review and approval for commercial and business uses, unified development review and substandard lots of record. A continuance was requested by Mayor Joseph Polisena in order for town planner Tom Deller to speak on the matter. SHOW CAUSE HEARINGS

The council approved issuing a non-conditional cease-and-desist to operate order to Underground Billiards, located at 928 Plainfield St. No representatives from Underground Billiards came to Monday’s meeting.

A show cause hearing for Town Hall Lanes, located at 1463 Atwood Ave., was previously continued until the March meeting.
